Modular boxes (Tomoko Fuse)
This is a well-known origami box composed of four identical modules. You will need
a total of 8 square sheets of paper to fold the box and a lid. The side length of the finished box
is equal to half the size of the paper used to fold it. The box is robust and looks particularly pretty if folded
with paper of different colors.
As for the lid, you can pull the modules a little bit apart without it being noticeable such that the lid becomes large
enough to fit on the box. There are also lid designs with various patterns.
This is only one of the many box designs of Tomoko Fuse. You can find other very sophisticated models, for example
triangular and hexagonal boxes.
The boxes in the pictures are assembled from modules folded from 10 x 10 cm and 7.5 x 7.5 cm papers.
Therefore, the resulting boxes are quite small and best suited as decoration.
The boxes shown above include a modular triangular box made of three identical modules, a square spiral box and a non-modular dome box from a single sheet.
